Draft Grade — Browns
Overall
A
ValueB+

FutureA+
Grand theft in pick No. 39: the Browns steal Sadiq and grade out a A. The real work happened on the phones. The Browns fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with. A near-flawless weekend of work, and a A to cap it.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Sadiq value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
The Browns paired the rookies with proven help, Jonathan Taylor leading the way.
Bottom line, they did the job about as well as it can be done.
Pick Analysis
Pick24
Rnd1
Arvell Reese
Arvell Reese at the 24th overall pick is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick39
Rnd2
Kenyon Sadiq
They robbed the room for Kenyon Sadiq here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick40
Rnd2
Elijah Sarratt
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Elijah Sarratt. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick70
Rnd3
Jake Slaughter
Jake Slaughter at pick 70 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick110
Rnd4
Zachariah Branch
By-the-book stuff, Zachariah Branch at the Round 4 slot squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick112
Rnd4
D'Angelo Ponds
D'Angelo Ponds at the 112th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick118
Rnd4
Jalon Kilgore
Nothing to complain about; Jalon Kilgore went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It fills a real need, too.
Pick139
Rnd5
Tim Keenan III
Tim Keenan III in pick No. 139 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick144
Rnd5
Max Iheanachor
No edge and no loss on Max Iheanachor in slot 144; it is a wash and a sensible one. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick147
Rnd5
Chase Roberts
Chase Roberts at the 147th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick152
Rnd5
Albert Regis
Albert Regis in No. 152 is fair value, right on his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick204
Rnd6
Barion Brown
Barion Brown at Round 6, Pick 25 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick226
Rnd7
Ethan O'Connor
They took Ethan O'Connor at par in the Round 7 slot, which is nothing to complain about. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick248
Rnd7
Haynes King
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Haynes King at the 248th pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
