Draft Grade — Jets
Overall B
ValueA NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
A franchise passer in Manning headlines a B weekend for the Jets.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Jets watched Eric Singleton Jr. slide 232 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.

The whole projection now runs through Arch Manning; hit there and everything else looks smarter. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.

They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Arch Manning
Arch Manning in pick 4 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick36 Rnd2 Anthony Hill Jr.
Anthony Hill Jr. at the 36th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick68 Rnd3 Jermod McCoy
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Jermod McCoy in No. 68, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick104 Rnd4 Spencer Fano
Circle this one: Spencer Fano at Round 4, Pick 2 is a fall that decides a draft. It fills a real need, too.
Pick139 Rnd5 Deontae Lawson
Steal is underselling it; Deontae Lawson at pick 139 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick143 Rnd5 Carnell Tate
They will replay Carnell Tate at pick No. 143 for years; that is how good the value is. The roster fit checks out.
Pick182 Rnd6 Antonio Williams
A wide receiver of that caliber at slot 182 is the definition of value, full stop. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick197 Rnd6 Tyreak Sapp
Taking Tyreak Sapp in the 197th overall pick is close to grand larceny; an edge rusher that good had no business lasting this long. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick210 Rnd6 Garrett Nussmeier
Garrett Nussmeier in the Round 6 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick251 Rnd7 Michael Taaffe
The board fumbled Michael Taaffe all the way to the 251st pick, and they scooped it up. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick253 Rnd7 Eric Singleton Jr.
Eric Singleton Jr. in the Round 7 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
