FutureF
The Seahawks bet the future on Allar. The board says F. The phones were a trap the Seahawks kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. The warnings were there, and the F is the bill.
Whatever Drew Allar becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
If Singleton pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. However the rest shakes out, Moore Jr. at that price is a win they earned.
They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.
In short, a weekend the front office will want to forget in a hurry.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Anthony Hill Jr.
In the Round 1 slot they get a green-dot type in the middle at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick13
Rnd1
Drew Allar
In No. 13 they get a long-term answer under center. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick43
Rnd2
Antonio Williams
Antonio Williams in the 43rd overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick45
Rnd2
Makai Lemon
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Makai Lemon in slot 45. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick61
Rnd2
Nicholas Singleton
Nicholas Singleton at pick 61 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick93
Rnd3
DeAndre Moore Jr.
They barely believed it either: DeAndre Moore Jr. still on the board at Round 3, Pick 29. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick111
Rnd4
D'Angelo Ponds
D'Angelo Ponds at pick No. 111 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick116
Rnd4
Logan Jones
Circle this one: Logan Jones at the 116th pick is a fall that decides a draft. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick180
Rnd6
Nolan Rucci
By-the-book stuff, Nolan Rucci at slot 180 squarely in line with his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick189
Rnd6
Robert Spears-Jennings
The board had Robert Spears-Jennings higher than No. 189, and the safety fell to them anyway. A minor itch, scratched.
