FutureB-
The Seahawks kept it disciplined and banked a B. The Seahawks torched the value chart for Mitchell Melton, taking him 165 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. The bottom line is a respectable B.
The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Leavitt at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They went 7 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Spencer Fano
In pick 11 they get a blindside protector. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick57
Rnd2
Sam Leavitt
They barely believed it either: Sam Leavitt still on the board at the 57th pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick75
Rnd3
Whit Weeks
By-the-book stuff, Whit Weeks at pick No. 75 squarely in line with his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick96
Rnd3
Roderick Kearney
Roderick Kearney at the Round 3 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick111
Rnd4
Oscar Delp
Oscar Delp at No. 111 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick123
Rnd4
Jaden Greathouse
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jaden Greathouse at the 123rd overall pick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick125
Rnd4
Dane Key
They talked themselves into Dane Key at slot 125, and the board did not agree. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick132
Rnd4
Jonah Coleman
They liked Jonah Coleman enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 132. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick150
Rnd5
DJ McKinney
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on DJ McKinney. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick160
Rnd5
Jordan White
Jordan White at No. 160 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick164
Rnd5
Trey Moore
They left a pile of value on the table to take Trey Moore this early at the Round 5 slot. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick171
Rnd5
Mitchell Melton
A wild overpay on Mitchell Melton in pick No. 171, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick180
Rnd6
Akheem Mesidor
Akheem Mesidor in the 180th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick189
Rnd6
Robert Spears-Jennings
The board had Robert Spears-Jennings higher than Round 6, Pick 13, and the safety fell to them anyway. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick245
Rnd7
Caullin Lacy
Value said wait; Caullin Lacy in slot 245 says they were not listening. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
