Draft Grade — Raiders

FutureB-
The Raiders finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a D-. Some picks age like wine; Pat Coogan at pick 219 will need to, sitting 40 spots clear of his grade.
The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. The whole projection now runs through Fernando Mendoza; hit there and everything else looks smarter.
Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Muhammad at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Fernando Mendoza
In pick No. 1 they get the face of the franchise at fair value.
Pick36
Rnd2
LT Overton
The board had cheaper options than LT Overton at the 36th overall pick, and it noticed. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick67
Rnd3
A'Mauri Washington
They did well to land A'Mauri Washington in pick 67, just ahead of his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick76
Rnd3
Deontae Lawson
Deontae Lawson at the Round 3 slot is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick102
Rnd4
Malik Muhammad
Somehow Malik Muhammad was still sitting there in Round 4, Pick 2, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick117
Rnd4
D'Angelo Ponds
D'Angelo Ponds in No. 117 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick134
Rnd4
Blake Miller
A straight-up fair deal on Blake Miller at pick 134, value and slot in agreement. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick174
Rnd5
Kevin Coleman Jr.
Kevin Coleman Jr. at the Round 5 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick182
Rnd6
DJ Campbell
DJ Campbell at pick No. 182 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick185
Rnd6
Lander Barton
They jumped the gun on Lander Barton, taking him earlier than his grade liked. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick219
Rnd7
Pat Coogan
Pat Coogan in the 219th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
