Draft Grade — Raiders

FutureA+
Nobody dealt better than the Raiders this weekend: A-. The real work happened on the phones. The Raiders fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with.
The Haynes pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The cornerback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
A strong weekend's work, and a rare one to find this little fault with.
Pick Analysis
Pick12
Rnd1
Cashius Howell
In slot 12 they get a problem off the edge, reach and all. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick16
Rnd1
Anthony Hill Jr.
In Round 1, Pick 16 they get the heartbeat of the defense, though they paid up to get him. More want than need.
Pick20
Rnd1
Caleb Lomu
In the 20th overall pick they get an anchor for the offensive line, even if it was a touch early. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick36
Rnd2
Kamari Ramsey
Kamari Ramsey in No. 36 is fair value, right on his grade. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick60
Rnd2
Lee Hunter
Lee Hunter in the 60th pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It fills a real need, too.
Pick87
Rnd3
Omar Cooper Jr.
Omar Cooper Jr. in pick No. 87 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick117
Rnd4
Trinidad Chambliss
A market-rate quarterback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Trinidad Chambliss. The roster fit checks out.
Pick134
Rnd4
Ar'maj Reed-Adams
Ar'maj Reed-Adams at pick 134 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick174
Rnd5
Xavier Nwankpa
They read the board right and Xavier Nwankpa was the payoff at the 174th pick. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick183
Rnd6
Jamal Haynes
A real head-scratcher, Jamal Haynes in the Round 6 slot is miles ahead of his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
