Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall
D-
ValueC+
NeedB
TradesF
FutureB-
The Ravens bled value on every deal, hence the D-. It is the swing that defines the weekend: Cody Lindenberg in slot 203, a good 61 spots before the room expected him.
They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. With quarterback and tight end unsolved, spending premium capital on safety is the choice that costs them.
Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Skattebo.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and quarterback is still a hole.
Pick Analysis
Pick39
Rnd2
Trey Amos
Trey Amos at pick 39 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick52
Rnd2
Xavier Watts
Xavier Watts in slot 52 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick59
Rnd2
Tre Harris
A straight-up fair deal on Tre Harris at the 59th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick75
Rnd3
Deone Walker
They paid up for Deone Walker at the 75th pick when waiting would have done the job. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick92
Rnd3
Charles Grant
By-the-book stuff, Charles Grant at No. 92 squarely in line with his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick100
Rnd3
Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo slid further than he should have, and Round 3, Pick 36 is lovely value for the running back. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick105
Rnd4
Smael Mondon Jr.
Smael Mondon Jr. in the 105th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick121
Rnd4
Aeneas Peebles
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Aeneas Peebles. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick129
Rnd4
Antwaun Powell-Ryland
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Antwaun Powell-Ryland well ahead of where he belonged. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick130
Rnd4
Malachi Moore
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went safety with Malachi Moore while clear needs at quarterback and tight end sat open.
Pick136
Rnd4
Logan Brown
They went early on Logan Brown in pick No. 136, and the value did not follow. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick137
Rnd4
Nick Nash
Nick Nash in No. 137 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick203
Rnd6
Cody Lindenberg
A real head-scratcher, Cody Lindenberg in Round 6, Pick 27 is miles ahead of his ranking. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick210
Rnd6
Carson Vinson
Value said wait; Carson Vinson in the 210th pick says they were not listening. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick212
Rnd6
Jabbar Muhammad
Jabbar Muhammad at pick No. 212 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick243
Rnd7
Tonka Hemingway
They talked themselves into Tonka Hemingway at the Round 7 slot, and the board did not agree. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
