Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall

FutureB
A costly weekend of dealing drags the Ravens to a D-. Nobody had Ahmed Hassanein this high, and it is not close. The Ravens reached 53 spots to get him at No. 193.
They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. With quarterback unsolved, spending premium capital on safety is the choice that costs them.
The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Walker pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, quarterback very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick43
Rnd2
JT Tuimoloau
They paid sticker price for JT Tuimoloau in slot 43, and that is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick44
Rnd2
Xavier Watts
Nothing to complain about; Xavier Watts went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick49
Rnd2
Jalon Walker
Jalon Walker in pick No. 49 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick60
Rnd2
Tre Harris
Tre Harris in No. 60 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It fills a real need, too.
Pick63
Rnd2
Jared Ivey
They went early on Jared Ivey in the Round 2 slot, and the value did not follow. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick76
Rnd3
Jared Wilson
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jared Wilson in pick 76, miles early. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick82
Rnd3
Charles Grant
A premium they did not need to pay, Charles Grant a notch or two before his time. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick92
Rnd3
Deone Walker
They read the board right and Deone Walker was the payoff at the 92nd pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick94
Rnd3
Andrew Mukuba
A curious use of the 94th overall pick. Quarterback needed the pick; a safety in Andrew Mukuba did not.
Pick95
Rnd3
Jordan Phillips
A reach on Jordan Phillips in pick 95; the board had better options right there. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick100
Rnd3
Cam Skattebo
The board had Cam Skattebo higher than slot 100, and the running back fell to them anyway. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick102
Rnd3
Nohl Williams
They paid up for Nohl Williams at Round 3, Pick 38 when waiting would have done the job. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick105
Rnd4
Dorian Strong
They talked themselves into Dorian Strong at the Round 4 slot, and the board did not agree. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick113
Rnd4
Smael Mondon Jr.
A want over a need in No. 113: Smael Mondon Jr. adds a linebacker while quarterback keeps waiting.
Pick117
Rnd4
Terrance Ferguson
Terrance Ferguson at the 117th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the tight end. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick129
Rnd4
Nick Nash
A big swing on Nick Nash at the 129th overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick183
Rnd6
Jonah Monheim
They did well to land Jonah Monheim in Round 6, Pick 7, just ahead of his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick193
Rnd6
Ahmed Hassanein
They left a pile of value on the table to take Ahmed Hassanein this early at pick No. 193. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick203
Rnd6
Caleb Ransaw
A conviction pick on Caleb Ransaw at pick 203 that the board grades a round light. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick210
Rnd6
Jabbar Muhammad
Value said wait; Jabbar Muhammad in the Round 6 slot says they were not listening. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick212
Rnd6
Craig Woodson
Craig Woodson at slot 212 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick243
Rnd7
Jackson Hawes
Jackson Hawes in No. 243 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
