Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall

FutureD-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Ravens for Starks: B-. The Ravens did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Malaki Starks fell into slot 61.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. The Marshall Jr. reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. With tight end and edge rusher unsolved, spending premium capital on linebacker is the choice that costs them.
They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick39
Rnd2
Jalon Walker
Value with a capital V on Jalon Walker in the Round 2 slot, a genuine coup. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick41
Rnd2
Emeka Egbuka
Nice patience on Emeka Egbuka, who had no business lasting to No. 41. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick61
Rnd2
Malaki Starks
Malaki Starks at the 61st overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick76
Rnd3
Shemar Turner
Shemar Turner in pick No. 76 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick102
Rnd3
Jared Wilson
By-the-book stuff, Jared Wilson at Round 3, Pick 38 squarely in line with his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick128
Rnd4
Smael Mondon Jr.
Of all the spots to shop, they chose linebacker. Smael Mondon Jr. in the 128th pick leaves tight end and edge rusher for later.
Pick129
Rnd4
Cobee Bryant
They did well to land Cobee Bryant in slot 129, just ahead of his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick136
Rnd4
Dillon Gabriel
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Dillon Gabriel at pick 136. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick137
Rnd4
Emery Jones Jr.
The board had cheaper options than Emery Jones Jr. at No. 137, and it noticed. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick176
Rnd5
Jason Marshall Jr.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jason Marshall Jr.. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick183
Rnd6
JJ Pegues
JJ Pegues at pick 183 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick203
Rnd6
Jay Higgins
Jay Higgins in Round 6, Pick 27 is fair value, right on his grade. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick205
Rnd6
Desmond Watson
Desmond Watson at slot 205 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick212
Rnd6
Woody Marks
A tidy bit of business in the Round 6 slot, where Woody Marks graded well above the range. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick228
Rnd7
Isaac TeSlaa
A premium they did not need to pay, Isaac TeSlaa a notch or two before his time. The roster fit checks out.
Pick244
Rnd7
Hunter Wohler
They reached into another round for Hunter Wohler, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
