Draft Grade — Falcons

FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Falcons, and a B- to prove it. You can draft well and still miss the point. The Falcons did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to offensive lineman, which was the need that mattered most. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
Hampton at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They went 3 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the offensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick15
Rnd1
Mykel Williams
In No. 15 they get a disruptor off the edge at fair value.
Pick46
Rnd2
Omarion Hampton
A slide stopped in pick 46, with Omarion Hampton worth more than the price. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick118
Rnd4
Jordan Phillips
Jordan Phillips at the 118th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick218
Rnd7
Jason Marshall Jr.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jason Marshall Jr. at slot 218. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick242
Rnd7
Kitan Crawford
They took Kitan Crawford at par in the 242nd pick, which is nothing to complain about. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
