Draft Grade — Jets
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Jets bet the future on Simpson. The board says B-.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Jets spent their marquee pick on Ty Simpson, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.

That Leavitt pick is the receipt they will wave around later. If Collins pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

The offense got the lion's share of the attention.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick7 Rnd1 Ty Simpson
In Round 1, Pick 7 they get a passer to set the clock by at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick18 Rnd1 Chris Brazzell II
Chris Brazzell II at the 18th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick38 Rnd2 Anthony Hill Jr.
Anthony Hill Jr. in No. 38 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick47 Rnd2 Romello Height
They jumped the gun on Romello Height, taking him earlier than his grade liked. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick104 Rnd4 Sam Leavitt
Sam Leavitt in the 104th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick177 Rnd5 Darius Taylor
No edge and no loss on Darius Taylor in pick 177; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick194 Rnd6 Xavier Nwankpa
Xavier Nwankpa in the Round 6 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick203 Rnd6 Jaren Kanak
Jaren Kanak at pick No. 203 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick212 Rnd6 DJ Harvey
DJ Harvey in the 212th pick is fair value, right on his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick218 Rnd7 Trebor Pena
They paid sticker price for Trebor Pena in No. 218, and that is fine. The roster fit checks out.
Pick239 Rnd7 Trey Zuhn III
Trey Zuhn III at the Round 7 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick254 Rnd7 Kelby Collins
Kelby Collins at the 254th overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick256 Rnd7 Bear Alexander
Bear Alexander at slot 256 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
