FutureB-
Nobody dealt better than the Raiders this weekend: B. The Raiders ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. Shuler falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. Proctor has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick8
Rnd1
Kadyn Proctor
In slot 8 they get an anchor for the offensive line, even if it was a touch early. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick36
Rnd2
Jake Slaughter
Jake Slaughter in the 36th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick42
Rnd2
Olaivavega Ioane
Olaivavega Ioane in the Round 2 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick102
Rnd4
Carson Beck
They paid a round early for Carson Beck in pick No. 102, more than the board wanted. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick117
Rnd4
Adon Shuler
A quiet steal in pick 117: Adon Shuler for less than the market said. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick134
Rnd4
DJ McKinney
A clean, defensible pick in Round 4, Pick 34 with a little surplus value in DJ McKinney. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick174
Rnd5
Davison Igbinosun
No drama and no debate, Davison Igbinosun went about where he belonged in No. 174. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick182
Rnd6
Bryce Boettcher
Bryce Boettcher at the 182nd pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick185
Rnd6
Aamil Wagner
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Aamil Wagner. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick219
Rnd7
Sawyer Robertson
A slide stopped in the 219th pick, with Sawyer Robertson worth more than the price. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
