Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall D-
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureB-
A franchise passer in Mendoza headlines a D- weekend for the Raiders.

Nobody had Jacob Rodriguez this high, and it is not close. The Raiders reached 52 spots to get him at slot 117.

They have staked the next five years on Fernando Mendoza, which is the only story that really matters here. The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.

The Terrell pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Fernando Mendoza
In the 1st overall pick they get their guy under center for the next decade. A real need, handled.
Pick36 Rnd2 Avieon Terrell
They read the board right and Avieon Terrell was the payoff at Round 2, Pick 4. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick67 Rnd3 Connor Lew
Connor Lew at the 67th pick is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick70 Rnd3 Ian Strong
They did well to land Ian Strong in pick 70, just ahead of his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick102 Rnd4 Keon Sabb
Keon Sabb at the Round 4 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick117 Rnd4 Jacob Rodriguez
Value said wait; Jacob Rodriguez in pick No. 117 says they were not listening. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick134 Rnd4 Drew Allar
They talked themselves into Drew Allar at pick No. 134, and the board did not agree. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick174 Rnd5 Max Iheanachor
Max Iheanachor at the 174th overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick182 Rnd6 Kevin Coleman Jr.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Kevin Coleman Jr. at the Round 6 slot. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick185 Rnd6 Xavier Nwankpa
A reach for Xavier Nwankpa in slot 185; a little patience would have been rewarded. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick219 Rnd7 Dane Key
A reasonable price with a little left over, Dane Key in the 219th pick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
