Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Raiders left with their quarterback, and a B- to match.

Start where it matters. The Raiders took Fernando Mendoza to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.

The Fields pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. If Moore pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.

That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Fernando Mendoza
A straight-up fair deal on Fernando Mendoza at pick No. 1, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick36 Rnd2 Colton Hood
Colton Hood at slot 36 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick67 Rnd3 Derrick Moore
This one needs a full-page explanation: Derrick Moore in the 67th overall pick, miles early. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick102 Rnd4 Jake Golday
A edge rusher of that caliber at Round 4, Pick 2 is the definition of value, full stop. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick117 Rnd4 Malachi Fields
Taking Malachi Fields in pick 117 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick134 Rnd4 Davison Igbinosun
They paid up for Davison Igbinosun at No. 134 when waiting would have done the job. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick174 Rnd5 Pat Coogan
Pat Coogan at the Round 5 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick180 Rnd6 Trey Zuhn III
Value said wait; Trey Zuhn III in the 180th pick says they were not listening. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick183 Rnd6 Jaren Kanak
By-the-book stuff, Jaren Kanak at the 183rd pick squarely in line with his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick219 Rnd7 De'Zhaun Stribling
De'Zhaun Stribling slid further than he should have, and the Round 7 slot is lovely value for the wide receiver. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
