The Eagles let Leavitt fall into their laps, and walked away with a A-. Call it larceny. Sam Leavitt sat on the board until No. 75, and the Eagles did not need to be asked twice.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. They are betting Adebawore proves the room right and everyone else wrong. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
It is a haul that will look even better come September.
Pick Analysis
Pick40
Rnd2
Dillon Thieneman
Dillon Thieneman at slot 40 is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. The roster fit checks out.
Pick54
Rnd2
Antonio Williams
A slide stopped in Round 2, Pick 22, with Antonio Williams worth more than the price. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick75
Rnd3
Sam Leavitt
They robbed the room for Sam Leavitt here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick81
Rnd3
Mansoor Delane
Nothing to complain about; Mansoor Delane went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick90
Rnd3
R Mason Thomas
Good price on R Mason Thomas in pick No. 90, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick94
Rnd3
Adepoju Adebawore
They talked themselves into Adepoju Adebawore at the Round 3 slot, and the board did not agree. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick98
Rnd3
Tanner Koziol
They paid sticker price for Tanner Koziol in No. 98, and that is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick100
Rnd3
Kaytron Allen
Kaytron Allen at pick 100 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick107
Rnd4
Malachi Fields
Malachi Fields at slot 107 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick108
Rnd4
Harold Perkins Jr.
They let Harold Perkins Jr. come to them and pounced at pick 108. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick109
Rnd4
Parker Brailsford
Fair-plus on Parker Brailsford, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick110
Rnd4
Jack Endries
Nice patience on Jack Endries, who had no business lasting to the Round 4 slot. It fills a real need, too.
Pick142
Rnd5
Earnest Greene III
Earnest Greene III at No. 142 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick148
Rnd5
Isaac Smith
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Isaac Smith at the 148th pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick149
Rnd5
Antonio Kite
No edge and no loss on Antonio Kite in pick No. 149; it is a wash and a sensible one. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick161
Rnd5
Connor Tollison
They read the board right and Connor Tollison was the payoff at Round 5, Pick 23. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick236
Rnd7
Jalen Hale
Circle this one: Jalen Hale at the 236th pick is a fall that decides a draft. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
