Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall
B
ValueA-
NeedB-
TradesB-
FutureB-
Milum should have been long gone. The Jaguars pounced, and earned a B. You build a draft on nights like this. Wyatt Milum had no business being available in the 223rd overall pick, and the Jaguars did the only sane thing and turned in the card. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They went 7 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick5
Rnd1
James Pearce Jr.
In Round 1, Pick 5 they get a double-digit-sack hope. More want than need.
Pick36
Rnd2
Jahdae Barron
A cornerback of that caliber at the 36th pick is the definition of value, full stop. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick70
Rnd3
Nick Emmanwori
Steal is underselling it; Nick Emmanwori at pick No. 70 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick88
Rnd3
Walter Nolen
Walter Nolen at the Round 3 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick106
Rnd4
Trey Amos
Trey Amos in slot 106 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick125
Rnd4
Tre Harris
Tre Harris at pick 125 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick143
Rnd5
Colston Loveland
Colston Loveland in No. 143 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick184
Rnd6
Demetrius Knight Jr.
The board fumbled Demetrius Knight Jr. all the way to the 184th overall pick, and they scooped it up. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick196
Rnd6
Josaiah Stewart
They barely believed it either: Josaiah Stewart still on the board at slot 196. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick223
Rnd7
Wyatt Milum
Taking Wyatt Milum in Round 7, Pick 5 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
