Draft Grade — Browns
Overall
D
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesF
FutureB-
The Browns got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D. The Browns lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D.
The Keenan III reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Neal at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
Bottom line, they will be counting on several picks to beat their grades.
Pick Analysis
Pick6
Rnd1
Carnell Tate
In pick No. 6 they get a No. 1 receiver at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick39
Rnd2
Emmanuel Pregnon
No edge and no loss on Emmanuel Pregnon in the Round 2 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick63
Rnd2
Jake Slaughter
They read the board right and Jake Slaughter was the payoff at slot 63. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick67
Rnd3
Isaiah World
A straight-up fair deal on Isaiah World at Round 3, Pick 3, value and slot in agreement. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick70
Rnd3
Diego Pavia
A wild overpay on Diego Pavia in pick 70, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick95
Rnd3
Julian Neal
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Julian Neal in No. 95, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick102
Rnd4
Nicholas Singleton
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Nicholas Singleton at the 102nd overall pick. It fills a real need, too.
Pick107
Rnd4
Tim Keenan III
Tim Keenan III at the 107th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick117
Rnd4
Blake Miller
Blake Miller at slot 117 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick134
Rnd4
Domani Jackson
Domani Jackson at pick 134 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick139
Rnd5
Max Iheanachor
Max Iheanachor at the 139th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick144
Rnd5
Kyle Louis
They paid sticker price for Kyle Louis in the 144th pick, and that is fine. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick147
Rnd5
Davison Igbinosun
By-the-book stuff, Davison Igbinosun at the Round 5 slot squarely in line with his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick189
Rnd6
Isaiah Nwokobia
Nothing to complain about; Isaiah Nwokobia went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick204
Rnd6
Barion Brown
No drama and no debate, Barion Brown went about where he belonged in No. 204. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick248
Rnd7
Jordan Hall
Jordan Hall in pick No. 248 is fair value, right on his grade. The roster fit checks out.
