Draft Grade — Rams

FutureB-
Grand theft in Round 7, Pick 34: the Rams steal Gore Jr. and grade out a B. Whoever sat across the table from the Rams should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
That is a running back worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They punted on safety, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. DeShon Elliott gives the group a proven body among the projects.
The Murphy pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
Good work on the whole, with safety the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick20
Rnd1
Byron Murphy II
Byron Murphy II at slot 20 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick52
Rnd2
Braden Fiske
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Braden Fiske. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick83
Rnd3
Austin Booker
Austin Booker in the 83rd pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick98
Rnd3
Javon Baker
Javon Baker at the 98th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick99
Rnd3
Caelen Carson
Caelen Carson in pick No. 99 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick119
Rnd4
Cedric Gray
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 4 slot with a little surplus value in Cedric Gray. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick154
Rnd5
Tommy Eichenberg
A quiet steal in pick 154: Tommy Eichenberg for less than the market said. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick155
Rnd5
Jaylin Simpson
Jaylin Simpson in slot 155 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick195
Rnd6
Jordan Jefferson
Jordan Jefferson at No. 195 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick196
Rnd6
Ty'Ron Hopper
They let Ty'Ron Hopper come to them and pounced at the Round 6 slot. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick209
Rnd6
Erick All
Erick All slipping to Round 6, Pick 34 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick213
Rnd6
Javontae Jean-Baptiste
They paid sticker price for Javontae Jean-Baptiste in the 213th pick, and that is fine. The roster fit checks out.
Pick217
Rnd6
Myles Murphy
They paid up for Myles Murphy at pick No. 217 when waiting would have done the job. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick254
Rnd7
Frank Gore Jr.
Frank Gore Jr. at the 254th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
