Overall B-
ValueB NeedB- TradesC+ FutureB+
More right than wrong for the Dolphins, and a B- to prove it.

Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Mikail Kamara at slot 87 is 28 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.

The Davis pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.

However the rest shakes out, Thieneman at that price is a win they earned. The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In the 12th pick they get a three-down second-level presence at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick43 Rnd2 Dillon Thieneman
Value with a capital V on Dillon Thieneman in Round 2, Pick 11, a genuine coup. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick75 Rnd3 Markel Bell
This one needs a full-page explanation: Markel Bell in the Round 3 slot, miles early. It fills a real need, too.
Pick87 Rnd3 Mikail Kamara
A wild overpay on Mikail Kamara in the 87th overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick90 Rnd3 Daylen Everette
Daylen Everette slid further than he should have, and No. 90 is lovely value for the cornerback. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick111 Rnd4 Tacario Davis
Of all the spots to shop, they chose cornerback. Tacario Davis in pick 111 leaves quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots for later.
Pick149 Rnd5 Beau Stephens
A tidy little value on Beau Stephens in No. 149, a step better than break-even. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick221 Rnd7 Zavion Thomas
No drama and no debate, Zavion Thomas went about where he belonged in pick 221. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
