Draft Grade — Chargers
Overall

FutureB-
The Chargers checked most of the boxes and earned a B. Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Chargers spent No. 257 on Khris Bogle, a name the board had a full 187 spots lower. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
The Simon steal is the beam this whole class leans on. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Tyler Warren
In Round 1, Pick 30 they get a seam-stretching tight end, outstanding value to boot.
Pick55
Rnd2
TreVeyon Henderson
They paid sticker price for TreVeyon Henderson in the 55th pick, and that is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick79
Rnd3
Quinshon Judkins
Quinshon Judkins at pick No. 79 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick91
Rnd3
Chris Paul Jr.
Chris Paul Jr. in No. 91 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick98
Rnd3
Jaylin Noel
Jaylin Noel in pick 98 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick116
Rnd4
Tez Johnson
A quiet steal in the Round 4 slot: Tez Johnson for less than the market said. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick125
Rnd4
Dorian Strong
Dorian Strong in the 125th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick158
Rnd5
Jake Majors
Jake Majors in the Round 5 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick176
Rnd5
Hayden Conner
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Hayden Conner well ahead of where he belonged. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick181
Rnd6
Cody Simon
They robbed the room for Cody Simon here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick199
Rnd6
JJ Pegues
JJ Pegues slipping to pick 199 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick209
Rnd6
Tonka Hemingway
Tonka Hemingway in the 209th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick214
Rnd6
Dayon Hayes
They reached into another round for Dayon Hayes, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick257
Rnd7
Khris Bogle
They reached a country mile for Khris Bogle at slot 257, and the board is aghast. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
