Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB TradesA- FutureB-
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Browns and Slaughter: B.

Somebody in the 70th overall pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Browns sat still while Jake Slaughter, the No. 46 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.

The cost of the Tiernan reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly. The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Carnell Tate
In No. 11 they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick24 Rnd1 Olaivavega Ioane
In the Round 1 slot they get a blindside protector. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick39 Rnd2 Gennings Dunker
A reach for Gennings Dunker in pick 39; a little patience would have been rewarded. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick43 Rnd2 Caleb Tiernan
Caleb Tiernan in Round 2, Pick 11 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick70 Rnd3 Jake Slaughter
Jake Slaughter in pick No. 70 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It fills a real need, too.
Pick87 Rnd3 Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
They will replay Emmanuel McNeil-Warren at slot 87 for years; that is how good the value is. The roster fit checks out.
Pick107 Rnd4 Zachariah Branch
They took Zachariah Branch at par in the 107th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick139 Rnd5 Aaron Graves
A premium they did not need to pay, Aaron Graves a notch or two before his time. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick144 Rnd5 Drew Allar
A quiet steal in the 144th overall pick: Drew Allar for less than the market said. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick147 Rnd5 Jermaine Mathews Jr.
Jermaine Mathews Jr. at slot 147 is a conviction pick that outran the value. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick204 Rnd6 Jamal Haynes
A conviction pick on Jamal Haynes at Round 6, Pick 25 that the board grades a round light. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick248 Rnd7 Will Kacmarek
A tidy little value on Will Kacmarek in the 248th pick, a step better than break-even. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
