Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall
B-
ValueA-
NeedB+
TradesD
FutureB-
The Chiefs robbed the room for Orange. Final grade: B-. The board owed the Chiefs one, and it paid up: Domonique Orange, the No. 73 name on the board, sitting there at No. 109 like a gift left on the doorstep. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. A small leak at the table, if not a fatal one.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick21
Rnd1
Jeremiyah Love
In Round 1, Pick 21 they get a workhorse for the backfield, and a steal at that. A real need, handled.
Pick40
Rnd2
Kenyon Sadiq
They will replay Kenyon Sadiq at the 40th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick74
Rnd3
Elijah Sarratt
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Elijah Sarratt in No. 74, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick109
Rnd4
Domonique Orange
They barely believed it either: Domonique Orange still on the board at pick 109. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick114
Rnd4
Domani Jackson
Fair-plus on Domani Jackson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick147
Rnd5
DJ McKinney
DJ McKinney at pick No. 147 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick153
Rnd5
Terry Moore
The board fumbled Terry Moore all the way to the Round 5 slot, and they scooped it up. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick177
Rnd5
Kevin Coleman Jr.
They robbed the room for Kevin Coleman Jr. here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick179
Rnd5
Earnest Greene III
No drama and no debate, Earnest Greene III went about where he belonged in slot 179. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
