Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall
D

FutureB-
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Chiefs and Banks: D. The trade table was where it all came apart. The Chiefs shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. Put together, it is a D.
Spending an early pick on cornerback with quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. If McKinney pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. Banks falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
Bottom line, they will be counting on several picks to beat their grades.
Pick Analysis
Pick13
Rnd1
Carnell Tate
In Round 1, Pick 13 they get a weapon on the perimeter at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick20
Rnd1
Jeremiyah Love
In slot 20 they get a featured back, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick40
Rnd2
Kenyon Sadiq
Kenyon Sadiq in the 40th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick61
Rnd2
Caleb Banks
Caleb Banks at the 61st overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick74
Rnd3
Keionte Scott
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Keionte Scott. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick93
Rnd3
Zakee Wheatley
They barely believed it either: Zakee Wheatley still on the board at pick 93. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick109
Rnd4
DJ McKinney
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, DJ McKinney adds a cornerback and leaves quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots untouched.
Pick146
Rnd5
Blake Miller
Nice patience on Blake Miller, who had no business lasting to slot 146. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick176
Rnd5
Kevin Coleman Jr.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Kevin Coleman Jr. in the 176th overall pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
