FutureA
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Saints and Dart: A. You could see the war room lean forward. Jaxson Dart at slot 184 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. It holds up to a second look, which is why it earns the A.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. The Saints clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.
Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Travis Hunter and all.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Travis Hunter
In No. 25 they get an island corner at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick48
Rnd2
Tyler Warren
Steal is underselling it; Tyler Warren at the Round 2 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick71
Rnd3
Armand Membou
The board fumbled Armand Membou all the way to pick No. 71, and they scooped it up. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick91
Rnd3
Walter Nolen
Circle this one: Walter Nolen at slot 91 is a fall that decides a draft. The roster fit checks out.
Pick93
Rnd3
Jalon Walker
Jalon Walker at the 93rd overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick97
Rnd3
Jahdae Barron
Jahdae Barron at the 97th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick98
Rnd3
Nick Emmanwori
They will replay Nick Emmanwori at pick 98 for years; that is how good the value is. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick112
Rnd4
Jihaad Campbell
You do not let a linebacker like Jihaad Campbell reach Round 4, Pick 10 and blink. They did not. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick131
Rnd4
Kenneth Grant
They robbed the room for Kenneth Grant here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick135
Rnd4
Wyatt Milum
They barely believed it either: Wyatt Milum still on the board at Round 4, Pick 33. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick176
Rnd5
Tre Harris
Somehow Tre Harris was still sitting there in slot 176, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick184
Rnd6
Jaxson Dart
Jaxson Dart in pick No. 184 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick187
Rnd6
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. at the 187th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick203
Rnd6
Dylan Fairchild
Dylan Fairchild in pick 203 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick248
Rnd7
David Walker
Taking David Walker in No. 248 is close to grand larceny; an edge rusher that good had no business lasting this long. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick254
Rnd7
Jaydon Blue
Jaydon Blue at the 254th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
