Draft Grade — Jets

FutureA
Mendoza is the Jets' new face under center. Grade: C-. The Jets spent the pick that matters most on Fernando Mendoza, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. A weekend of give and take that grades a C-.
Hartford falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
The cost of the Foster reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
If Fernando Mendoza and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Fernando Mendoza
In pick 11 they get the arm they will build around. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick23
Rnd1
Jordyn Tyson
In the Round 1 slot they get a matchup problem out wide, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
Pick31
Rnd1
Jeremiyah Love
In the 31st overall pick they get a lead back with juice, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick33
Rnd2
Anthony Hill Jr.
Anthony Hill Jr. at No. 33 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick56
Rnd2
R Mason Thomas
Steal is underselling it; R Mason Thomas at pick No. 56 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick102
Rnd4
Jalon Kilgore
They jumped the gun on Jalon Kilgore, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick178
Rnd5
Gracen Halton
Gracen Halton in Round 5, Pick 38 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick189
Rnd6
Evan Stewart
Evan Stewart in the 189th pick is fair value, right on his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick207
Rnd6
Bryce Foster
This one needs a full-page explanation: Bryce Foster in pick No. 207, miles early. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick209
Rnd6
Isaiah Jatta
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Isaiah Jatta at pick 209 is the proof. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick240
Rnd7
Diego Pavia
They took Diego Pavia at par in slot 240, which is nothing to complain about. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick254
Rnd7
Malik Hartford
Malik Hartford in the 254th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick255
Rnd7
Shamar Easter
Shamar Easter at the Round 7 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
