Draft Grade — Lions
Overall
B-

FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Lions a B-. Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Lions spent pick No. 130 on Luke Kandra, a name most had 27 spots down the list.
For all the activity, linebacker went untouched, which is hard to explain. Job largely done: cornerback settled and 5 of 9 of the wish list covered.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Josaiah Stewart
This one needs a full-page explanation: Josaiah Stewart in slot 28, miles early. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick60
Rnd2
Jaylin Noel
They took Jaylin Noel at par in the 60th pick, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick102
Rnd3
Nohl Williams
Nohl Williams in No. 102 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick130
Rnd4
Luke Kandra
They reached into another round for Luke Kandra, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick196
Rnd6
Jaylen Reed
They did well to land Jaylen Reed in Round 6, Pick 20, just ahead of his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
