Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall
B

FutureB-
The Seahawks won the night they stopped Emmanwori from sliding. Grade: B. Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Nick Emmanwori got past him. The Seahawks do not have to explain a thing at Round 2, Pick 18.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. Cooper has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Ashton Jeanty
Nice patience on Ashton Jeanty, who had no business lasting to the Round 1 slot. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick50
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori in the 50th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick55
Rnd2
Trey Amos
Trey Amos at slot 55 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick82
Rnd3
Isaiah Bond
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 82 with a little surplus value in Isaiah Bond. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick92
Rnd3
Charles Grant
Charles Grant in pick 92 is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick125
Rnd4
Jordan Phillips
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jordan Phillips in No. 125. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick137
Rnd4
Hollin Pierce
By-the-book stuff, Hollin Pierce at the 137th pick squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick158
Rnd5
Seth McLaughlin
Seth McLaughlin at Round 5, Pick 20 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick172
Rnd5
Connor Colby
Connor Colby at pick 172 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick175
Rnd5
O'Donnell Fortune
The board fumbled O'Donnell Fortune all the way to slot 175, and they scooped it up. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick184
Rnd6
Tyler Cooper
A conviction pick on Tyler Cooper at No. 184 that the board grades a round light. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick214
Rnd6
Nazir Stackhouse
Nazir Stackhouse at the 214th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick223
Rnd7
Karene Reid
Nothing to complain about; Karene Reid went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick234
Rnd7
Luke Lachey
They will replay Luke Lachey at the Round 7 slot for years; that is how good the value is. The roster fit checks out.
Pick248
Rnd7
Ja'Corey Brooks
A reasonable price with a little left over, Ja'Corey Brooks in the 248th overall pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
