Draft Grade — Titans
Overall
A-
ValueA-
NeedB-
TradesA+
FutureB+
The Titans let Haulcy fall and pounced. Final grade: A-. When a board-topper like A.J. Haulcy slides to pick 101, you do not overthink it, and the Titans did not. Add it all up and it grades out a clean A-.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Jordyn Tyson and all.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Arvell Reese
In pick 18 they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick26
Rnd1
Jordyn Tyson
In the 26th pick they get a weapon on the perimeter, outstanding value to boot.
Pick35
Rnd2
Sonny Styles
Sonny Styles slid further than he should have, and the Round 2 slot is lovely value for the linebacker. The roster fit checks out.
Pick49
Rnd2
Denzel Boston
Denzel Boston at Round 2, Pick 17 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick66
Rnd3
Keith Abney II
Keith Abney II at pick No. 66 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick101
Rnd4
A.J. Haulcy
A.J. Haulcy at slot 101 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick126
Rnd4
Sam Hecht
You do not let an offensive lineman like Sam Hecht reach the 126th overall pick and blink. They did not. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick142
Rnd5
Will Lee III
The board fumbled Will Lee III all the way to No. 142, and they scooped it up. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick144
Rnd5
Joe Royer
Joe Royer in the 144th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick177
Rnd5
Zane Durant
They took Zane Durant at par in the Round 5 slot, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick184
Rnd6
Ar'maj Reed-Adams
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 184, where Ar'maj Reed-Adams graded well above the range. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick194
Rnd6
Seth McGowan
A quiet steal in the 194th pick: Seth McGowan for less than the market said. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick196
Rnd6
Taylen Green
Nice patience on Taylen Green, who had no business lasting to pick 196. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick225
Rnd7
Thaddeus Dixon
Value with a capital V on Thaddeus Dixon in No. 225, a genuine coup. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
