Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall
D
ValueA-
NeedB-
TradesF
FutureB+
The Dolphins won the night they stopped Slaughter from sliding. Grade: D. The phones were a trap the Dolphins kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. The process wobbled, and the D is where it lands.
Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. With quarterback and linebacker unsolved, spending premium capital on cornerback is the choice that costs them. Landing Slaughter that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
Bottom line, they will be counting on several picks to beat their grades.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Mansoor Delane
In the 25th overall pick they get an island corner, outstanding value to boot. Need was not the driver here.
Pick43
Rnd2
Kenyon Sadiq
Kenyon Sadiq at No. 43 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It fills a real need, too.
Pick57
Rnd2
Dillon Thieneman
Taking Dillon Thieneman in the 57th pick is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick75
Rnd3
Elijah Sarratt
Elijah Sarratt at slot 75 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick87
Rnd3
Jake Slaughter
The board fumbled Jake Slaughter all the way to pick 87, and they scooped it up. The roster fit checks out.
Pick90
Rnd3
Jake Golday
They barely believed it either: Jake Golday still on the board at pick No. 90. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick111
Rnd4
Devin Moore
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went cornerback with Devin Moore while clear needs at quarterback and linebacker sat open.
Pick112
Rnd4
Ja'Kobi Lane
Ja'Kobi Lane in the 112th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick129
Rnd4
Chris McClellan
By-the-book stuff, Chris McClellan at the 129th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick149
Rnd5
Ar'maj Reed-Adams
A tidy bit of business in Round 5, Pick 11, where Ar'maj Reed-Adams graded well above the range. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick150
Rnd5
Dametrious Crownover
They read the board right and Dametrious Crownover was the payoff at pick 150. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick163
Rnd5
Gracen Halton
Gracen Halton at No. 163 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick177
Rnd5
Febechi Nwaiwu
A tidy little value on Febechi Nwaiwu in slot 177, a step better than break-even. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick215
Rnd6
Terion Stewart
Nothing to complain about; Terion Stewart went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
