Draft Grade — Dolphins

FutureB+
The Dolphins cashed the board's mistake on McNeil-Warren: D. The trade table was where it all came apart. The Dolphins shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill.
Getting McNeil-Warren where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes. They trusted the board more than the depth chart.
A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.
Pick Analysis
Pick43
Rnd2
Kenyon Sadiq
A tight end of that caliber at No. 43 is the definition of value, full stop. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick47
Rnd2
Olaivavega Ioane
They robbed the room for Olaivavega Ioane here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick63
Rnd2
Anthony Hill Jr.
Anthony Hill Jr. in pick 63 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It fills a real need, too.
Pick75
Rnd3
A.J. Haulcy
A.J. Haulcy at slot 75 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick77
Rnd3
Keionte Scott
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Keionte Scott in the 77th overall pick. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick91
Rnd3
Dontay Corleone
Dontay Corleone at Round 3, Pick 27 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick94
Rnd3
Chandler Rivers
A clean, defensible pick in slot 94 with a little surplus value in Chandler Rivers. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick95
Rnd3
Antonio Williams
Taking Antonio Williams in pick 95 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick110
Rnd4
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
Somehow Emmanuel McNeil-Warren was still sitting there in the 110th pick, and they pounced on premier safety value. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick111
Rnd4
Jake Golday
Steal is underselling it; Jake Golday at pick No. 111 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick113
Rnd4
Mike Washington Jr.
Mike Washington Jr. in the Round 4 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick116
Rnd4
Deion Burks
Fair-plus on Deion Burks, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick130
Rnd4
Parker Brailsford
Value with a capital V on Parker Brailsford in the 130th overall pick, a genuine coup. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick149
Rnd5
Beau Stephens
Beau Stephens at No. 149 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick153
Rnd5
Jude Bowry
Good price on Jude Bowry in Round 5, Pick 15, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The roster fit checks out.
Pick162
Rnd5
DeMonte Capehart
DeMonte Capehart in the Round 5 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick164
Rnd5
Demond Claiborne
A slide stopped in pick No. 164, with Demond Claiborne worth more than the price. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick187
Rnd6
Taylen Green
A market-rate quarterback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Taylen Green. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick193
Rnd6
Marlin Klein
A top-tier tight end at a bargain, Marlin Klein in No. 193, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick197
Rnd6
Bryce Boettcher
Bryce Boettcher at the 197th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick220
Rnd7
Josh Moten
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Josh Moten at pick 220. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick227
Rnd7
Dane Key
Dane Key is a better player than the 227th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
