Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall A-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureA+
Best value of the weekend goes to the Jaguars for Higgins: A-.

The Jaguars spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Jayden Higgins, the No. 69 name on the board, in No. 126. The board rewarded a patient, disciplined weekend with a A-.

Every board in the league had Baron lower, and that gap is the story. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend.

They will answer for taking edge rusher early while linebacker and quarterback went begging. The linebacker spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Bottom line, they did the job about as well as it can be done.

Pick Analysis
Pick33 Rnd2 Kenneth Grant
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Kenneth Grant at the 33rd pick is the proof. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick36 Rnd2 Josh Conerly Jr.
Josh Conerly Jr. at pick No. 36 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick67 Rnd3 Tre Harris
A reasonable price with a little left over, Tre Harris in pick 67. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick70 Rnd3 Maxwell Hairston
A straight-up fair deal on Maxwell Hairston at Round 3, Pick 6, value and slot in agreement. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick94 Rnd3 Cameron Williams
A offensive lineman of that caliber at the 94th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick102 Rnd3 Sai'vion Jones
A wild overpay on Sai'vion Jones in the Round 3 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick107 Rnd4 Tyler Baron
A curious use of No. 107. Linebacker and quarterback needed the pick; an edge rusher in Tyler Baron did not.
Pick126 Rnd4 Jayden Higgins
Jayden Higgins at slot 126 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick130 Rnd4 Brashard Smith
They took Brashard Smith at par in Round 4, Pick 28, which is nothing to complain about. The roster fit checks out.
Pick142 Rnd5 Jonah Monheim
Jonah Monheim in No. 142 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick182 Rnd6 Oronde Gadsden II
The board had cheaper options than Oronde Gadsden II at pick No. 182, and it noticed. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick194 Rnd6 Upton Stout
Nothing to complain about; Upton Stout went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick221 Rnd7 Isaac TeSlaa
Isaac TeSlaa in the 221st pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
