Larceny in the Round 6 slot lands the Bills a B-, Peebles and all.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Bills were there to profit. Aeneas Peebles, the No. 148 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 177th pick. The bottom line is a respectable B-.

The Bills indulged a want in Dotson while a need in edge rusher, quarterback and other spots stayed open. They will need Turner to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Benjamin Morrison
In pick 30 they get a potential shutdown corner, reach and all. More want than need.
Pick56 Rnd2 Tre Harris
A straight-up fair deal on Tre Harris at the 56th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick62 Rnd2 Shemar Turner
Shemar Turner at the 62nd pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick109 Rnd4 Lathan Ransom
Lathan Ransom in the Round 4 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick132 Rnd4 Mello Dotson
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Mello Dotson adds a cornerback and leaves edge rusher, quarterback and other spots untouched.
Pick169 Rnd5 Ben Sauls
They paid sticker price for Ben Sauls in No. 169, and that is fine. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick170 Rnd5 Seth McLaughlin
They took Seth McLaughlin at par in pick No. 170, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick173 Rnd5 Logan Brown
They will replay Logan Brown at Round 5, Pick 35 for years; that is how good the value is. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick177 Rnd6 Aeneas Peebles
Taking Aeneas Peebles in pick 177 is close to grand larceny; an interior defensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick206 Rnd6 Kain Medrano
A conviction pick on Kain Medrano at pick No. 206 that the board grades a round light. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
