Sellers is the Vikings' new face under center. Grade: D-. You can hear the double-takes from here. The Vikings took Nicholas Singleton at pick 49, roughly 46 spots before his name belonged.
So much rides on LaNorris Sellers that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. The trade table is where this weekend went wrong.
The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Getting Moore where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.
Pick Analysis
Pick21
Rnd1
LaNorris Sellers
In slot 21 they get a long-term answer under center at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick22
Rnd1
Jordyn Tyson
They read the board right and Jordyn Tyson was the payoff at the Round 1 slot. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick29
Rnd1
Mansoor Delane
A quiet steal in pick 29: Mansoor Delane for less than the market said. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick38
Rnd2
Arvell Reese
Arvell Reese at the 38th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick49
Rnd2
Nicholas Singleton
A big swing on Nicholas Singleton at No. 49, well ahead of any board in the building. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick80
Rnd3
Eli Stowers
Eli Stowers in pick No. 80 is fair value, right on his grade. It fills a real need, too.
Pick88
Rnd3
Jaeden Roberts
Jaeden Roberts in the 88th pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick97
Rnd3
Rod Moore
Taking Rod Moore in No. 97 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick123
Rnd4
Drew Allar
A tidy bit of business in Round 4, Pick 23, where Drew Allar graded well above the range. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick138
Rnd4
Logan Jones
They took Logan Jones at par in slot 138, which is nothing to complain about. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick169
Rnd5
Jermaine Mathews Jr.
Jermaine Mathews Jr. at pick No. 169 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick212
Rnd6
Raylen Wilson
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 6 slot with a little surplus value in Raylen Wilson. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick235
Rnd7
De'Zhaun Stribling
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on De'Zhaun Stribling. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
