The Jets drew a line under the quarterback search with Moore: C+. You can hear the double-takes from here. The Jets took Dominic Zvada at the 200th pick, roughly 79 spots before his name belonged.
Everything downstream of Dante Moore depends on Dante Moore, and the building knows it. The Green value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere.
Hit on Dante Moore and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.
Pick Analysis
Pick19
Rnd1
Dante Moore
In pick No. 19 they get the arm they will build around. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick33
Rnd2
Makai Lemon
They robbed the room for Makai Lemon here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick35
Rnd2
Christen Miller
Christen Miller at No. 35 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It fills a real need, too.
Pick56
Rnd2
Kamari Ramsey
A straight-up fair deal on Kamari Ramsey at Round 2, Pick 24, value and slot in agreement. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick66
Rnd3
Darrell Jackson Jr.
They paid sticker price for Darrell Jackson Jr. in the 66th pick, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick87
Rnd3
Mikail Kamara
They talked themselves into Mikail Kamara at pick 87, and the board did not agree. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick101
Rnd4
Eric Singleton Jr.
Steal is underselling it; Eric Singleton Jr. at Round 4, Pick 1 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The roster fit checks out.
Pick122
Rnd4
Kaytron Allen
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Kaytron Allen at the 122nd overall pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick140
Rnd4
Bray Hubbard
Bray Hubbard at pick 140 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick162
Rnd5
Jaden Greathouse
A clean, defensible pick in the 162nd pick with a little surplus value in Jaden Greathouse. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick183
Rnd6
Rasheem Biles
Rasheem Biles at pick No. 183 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick200
Rnd6
Dominic Zvada
Dominic Zvada at No. 200 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick201
Rnd6
Trey Zuhn III
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Trey Zuhn III well ahead of where he belonged. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick218
Rnd7
Taylen Green
Taylen Green at the Round 7 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick229
Rnd7
Malik Hartford
Malik Hartford is a better player than pick 229 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick236
Rnd7
Smith Snowden
Smith Snowden in the Round 7 slot is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick256
Rnd7
Barion Brown
A wide receiver of that caliber at No. 256 is the definition of value, full stop. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick257
Rnd7
Tristan Leigh
Circle this one: Tristan Leigh at the 257th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
