FutureB+
Robertson should have been long gone. The Dolphins pounced, and earned a D+. Somebody took the Dolphins to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. Hard to defend, and the D+ reflects that.
Robertson at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster. Job largely done: quarterback settled and 8 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.
In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Jordyn Tyson
In pick No. 18 they get a true top target. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick59
Rnd2
Dillon Thieneman
A safety of that caliber at the Round 2 slot is the definition of value, full stop. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick75
Rnd3
Max Klare
A top-tier tight end at a bargain, Max Klare in pick 75, plain and simple. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick82
Rnd3
Deontae Lawson
Deontae Lawson at No. 82 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick87
Rnd3
Lee Hunter
They barely believed it either: Lee Hunter still on the board at Round 3, Pick 23. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick90
Rnd3
Keionte Scott
Keionte Scott at slot 90 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick97
Rnd3
Connor Lew
The board fumbled Connor Lew all the way to the 97th pick, and they scooped it up. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick106
Rnd4
Daylen Everette
Daylen Everette in No. 106 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick119
Rnd4
Jaeden Roberts
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jaeden Roberts. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick128
Rnd4
Demond Claiborne
By-the-book stuff, Demond Claiborne at Round 4, Pick 28 squarely in line with his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick149
Rnd5
Drew Allar
Drew Allar at pick No. 149 is money in the bank, a quarterback taken below his worth. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick157
Rnd5
DeMonte Capehart
They will replay DeMonte Capehart at slot 157 for years; that is how good the value is. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick161
Rnd5
Nadame Tucker
Nadame Tucker at the 161st overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick194
Rnd6
Thaddeus Dixon
Fair-plus on Thaddeus Dixon, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick227
Rnd7
Sawyer Robertson
They robbed the room for Sawyer Robertson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
