Best value of the weekend goes to the Dolphins for Coleman: C. Somebody took the Dolphins to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. Call it a C and check back in two years.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Coleman. Spending an early pick on cornerback with edge rusher open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.
So much rides on Kenyon Sadiq that the real verdict is a season or two away.
Pick Analysis
Pick26
Rnd1
Kenyon Sadiq
In pick 26 they get a matchup weapon at tight end. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick49
Rnd2
Dillon Thieneman
Value with a capital V on Dillon Thieneman in the Round 2 slot, a genuine coup. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick82
Rnd3
Brian Parker II
Brian Parker II in the 82nd pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick87
Rnd3
Malachi Fields
Malachi Fields at slot 87 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick89
Rnd3
Malik Muhammad
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Malik Muhammad at pick No. 89. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick93
Rnd3
Connor Lew
Connor Lew in the 93rd overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The roster fit checks out.
Pick97
Rnd3
Jonah Coleman
Jonah Coleman at the 97th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick111
Rnd4
Tacario Davis
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Tacario Davis at cornerback with edge rusher open.
Pick112
Rnd4
Jaeden Roberts
They took Jaeden Roberts at par in the Round 4 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick126
Rnd4
Michael Trigg
Michael Trigg in the 126th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick129
Rnd4
Logan Jones
No drama and no debate, Logan Jones went about where he belonged in Round 4, Pick 29. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick149
Rnd5
Kage Casey
The board had Kage Casey higher than pick No. 149, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick161
Rnd5
Chase Roberts
Chase Roberts at pick 161 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick163
Rnd5
Bryce Boettcher
A reasonable price with a little left over, Bryce Boettcher in slot 163. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick167
Rnd5
Gracen Halton
Gracen Halton in Round 5, Pick 29 is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick194
Rnd6
Miller Moss
A tidy little value on Miller Moss in the 194th overall pick, a step better than break-even. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick227
Rnd7
Riley Mahlman
Riley Mahlman in slot 227 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It fills a real need, too.
Pick240
Rnd7
Jordan Hall
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jordan Hall. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
