Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall

FutureB
The Dolphins robbed the room for Stowers. Final grade: C-. The trade table was where it all came apart. The Dolphins shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. Call it a C- and check back in two years.
The Stowers pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. It is not that Lee III is a bad player; it is that the Dolphins had louder needs to answer first.
For all the activity, linebacker went untouched, which is hard to explain.
So much rides on Carnell Tate that the real verdict is a season or two away.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Carnell Tate
In Round 1, Pick 18 they get a No. 1 receiver, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick43
Rnd2
Dillon Thieneman
Dillon Thieneman slid further than he should have, and slot 43 is lovely value for the safety. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick49
Rnd2
Keith Abney II
Good price on Keith Abney II in the 49th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick75
Rnd3
Will Lee III
They bypassed pressing needs at linebacker to take Will Lee III, a cornerback that was not the priority.
Pick87
Rnd3
Eli Stowers
Eli Stowers at the 87th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick90
Rnd3
Brian Parker II
A offensive lineman of that caliber at No. 90 is the definition of value, full stop. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick111
Rnd4
Sam Hecht
Sam Hecht in No. 111 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick112
Rnd4
Caden Curry
Caden Curry at slot 112 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the edge rusher. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick149
Rnd5
Skyler Gill-Howard
They read the board right and Skyler Gill-Howard was the payoff at pick No. 149. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick150
Rnd5
Kevin Coleman Jr.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kevin Coleman Jr.. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick177
Rnd5
Terion Stewart
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Terion Stewart at the Round 5 slot. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick194
Rnd6
Sawyer Robertson
Sawyer Robertson is a better player than the 194th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
