Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall
A
ValueA
NeedB+

FutureA+
The Jaguars won the night they stopped Lundt from sliding. Grade: A. The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Chase Lundt, pick 246, roughly 73 picks past where he belonged. It holds up to a second look, which is why it earns the A.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Adding Greg Newsome II by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies. Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Luther Burden III and all.
Pick Analysis
Pick33
Rnd2
Luther Burden III
Luther Burden III at pick 33 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick36
Rnd2
Walter Nolen
The board fumbled Walter Nolen all the way to the 36th pick, and they scooped it up. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick67
Rnd3
Marcus Mbow
Nice patience on Marcus Mbow, who had no business lasting to the Round 3 slot. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick70
Rnd3
Jihaad Campbell
A linebacker of that caliber at pick No. 70 is the definition of value, full stop. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick94
Rnd3
Maxwell Hairston
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Maxwell Hairston at No. 94. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick101
Rnd3
Donovan Jackson
They let Donovan Jackson come to them and pounced at slot 101. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick106
Rnd4
Malachi Moore
Malachi Moore is a better player than Round 4, Pick 5 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick143
Rnd5
Jermari Harris
Circle this one: Jermari Harris at the 143rd overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick150
Rnd5
Tai Felton
You do not let a wide receiver like Tai Felton reach pick 150 and blink. They did not. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick184
Rnd6
Brashard Smith
They will replay Brashard Smith at Round 6, Pick 6 for years; that is how good the value is. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick192
Rnd6
Tyler Shough
Steal is underselling it; Tyler Shough at the Round 6 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick196
Rnd6
Jabbar Muhammad
Jabbar Muhammad in the 196th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick223
Rnd7
Karene Reid
Karene Reid at slot 223 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick230
Rnd7
R.J. Mickens
They read the board right and R.J. Mickens was the payoff at No. 230. The roster fit checks out.
Pick246
Rnd7
Chase Lundt
They robbed the room for Chase Lundt here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick249
Rnd7
Clay Webb
No edge and no loss on Clay Webb in pick No. 249; it is a wash and a sensible one. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
