Papagaff DRAFTING FOR THEBengals
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall

FutureB-
The Bengals kept it disciplined and banked a B-. Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Bengals never addressed tight end, and it is the kind of gap that lingers. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Gordon II. Every board in the league had Jackson lower, and that gap is the story.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick17
Rnd1
Nick Emmanwori
In the 17th pick they get a centerfielder for the defense at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
Pick49
Rnd2
Donovan Jackson
They paid up for Donovan Jackson at pick No. 49 when waiting would have done the job. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick81
Rnd3
Chris Paul Jr.
Chris Paul Jr. in No. 81 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It fills a real need, too.
Pick119
Rnd4
Ty Hamilton
They went early on Ty Hamilton in pick 119, and the value did not follow. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick153
Rnd5
Quincy Riley
Quincy Riley in the Round 5 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick193
Rnd6
Ollie Gordon II
The board had Ollie Gordon II higher than Round 6, Pick 17, and the running back fell to them anyway. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
