Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall D
ValueB NeedB+ TradesF FutureB-
The Chiefs robbed the room for Banks. Final grade: D.

Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Chiefs, and the value they bled adds up to real damage.

However the rest shakes out, Banks at that price is a win they earned. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and quarterback is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick9 Rnd1 Carnell Tate
In the 9th pick they get a difference-maker at receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick19 Rnd1 T.J. Parker
In the 19th overall pick they get a bendy edge with upside at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick40 Rnd2 Kenyon Sadiq
Kenyon Sadiq at Round 2, Pick 8 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick42 Rnd2 Jonah Coleman
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jonah Coleman. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick74 Rnd3 Caleb Banks
Taking Caleb Banks in pick 74 is close to grand larceny; an edge rusher that good had no business lasting this long. The roster fit checks out.
Pick77 Rnd3 Keionte Scott
Fair-plus on Keionte Scott, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick112 Rnd4 Jake Golday
You do not let an edge rusher like Jake Golday reach Round 4, Pick 12 and blink. They did not. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick146 Rnd5 Tacario Davis
They will replay Tacario Davis at No. 146 for years; that is how good the value is. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick176 Rnd5 Jalen Stroman
Jalen Stroman at the Round 5 slot is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick181 Rnd5 Kage Casey
Kage Casey in slot 181 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
