Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall
B-

FutureD-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Cowboys for Trotter: B-. This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Josiah Trotter, the No. 62 name on the board, stolen at Round 4, Pick 12. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. The trade work was a quiet net positive. Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.
They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick12
Rnd1
Arvell Reese
In the 12th pick they get a three-down second-level presence. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick33
Rnd2
Jermod McCoy
Jermod McCoy at pick 33 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick44
Rnd2
Dillon Thieneman
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Dillon Thieneman at the 44th overall pick is the proof. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick58
Rnd2
Anthony Hill Jr.
Anthony Hill Jr. at slot 58 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick112
Rnd4
Josiah Trotter
Circle this one: Josiah Trotter at the Round 4 slot is a fall that decides a draft. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick150
Rnd5
Dametrious Crownover
Nice patience on Dametrious Crownover, who had no business lasting to pick No. 150. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick215
Rnd6
Dane Key
They did well to land Dane Key in Round 6, Pick 36, just ahead of his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick221
Rnd7
Charles Jagusah
Charles Jagusah at No. 221 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick225
Rnd7
Aiden Fisher
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Aiden Fisher. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
