Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Jaguars and Brooks: B.

The board owed the Jaguars one, and it paid up: Tahj Brooks, the No. 199 name on the board, sitting there at No. 221 like a gift left on the doorstep. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

A whole weekend of picks and linebacker is somehow still a want. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick5 Rnd1 Will Johnson
In the 5th overall pick they get a ballhawk on the outside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick36 Rnd2 Walter Nolen
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 36, where Walter Nolen graded well above the range. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick76 Rnd3 Cameron Williams
Cameron Williams in pick 76 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick88 Rnd3 Andrew Mukuba
They did well to land Andrew Mukuba in the 88th pick, just ahead of his grade. It fills a real need, too.
Pick107 Rnd4 Tory Horton
Tory Horton in the Round 4 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick126 Rnd4 Nohl Williams
Nohl Williams in slot 126 is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick142 Rnd5 Mello Dotson
Mello Dotson at No. 142 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick174 Rnd5 Jake Briningstool
A clean, defensible pick in Round 5, Pick 36 with a little surplus value in Jake Briningstool. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick182 Rnd6 Ajani Cornelius
Ajani Cornelius in Round 6, Pick 6 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick194 Rnd6 JJ Pegues
JJ Pegues at pick No. 194 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick204 Rnd6 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. at pick 204 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick221 Rnd7 Tahj Brooks
They will replay Tahj Brooks at the Round 7 slot for years; that is how good the value is. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
