Draft Grade — Chiefs

FutureB-
The Chiefs lost the trade table, and the D- tells the story. You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Chiefs did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. The Banks steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and interior defensive lineman is still a hole.
Pick Analysis
Pick9
Rnd1
David Bailey
In the 9th pick they get juice off the edge at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick21
Rnd1
Jordyn Tyson
In slot 21 they get a go-to option on the outside, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick40
Rnd2
Sonny Styles
Good price on Sonny Styles in pick No. 40, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The roster fit checks out.
Pick43
Rnd2
Caleb Banks
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Caleb Banks at Round 2, Pick 11. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick71
Rnd3
Eli Stowers
Eli Stowers in the Round 3 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick74
Rnd3
Zakee Wheatley
Zakee Wheatley in pick 74 is fair value, right on his grade. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick102
Rnd4
Emmett Johnson
They read the board right and Emmett Johnson was the payoff at the 102nd overall pick. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick109
Rnd4
Deion Burks
Deion Burks at No. 109 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick121
Rnd4
Domani Jackson
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Domani Jackson in pick 121. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick147
Rnd5
Kage Casey
No drama and no debate, Kage Casey went about where he belonged in the 147th overall pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick177
Rnd5
Taylen Green
Nothing to complain about; Taylen Green went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
