Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall
D
ValueB
NeedB-
TradesF
FutureB+
The Dolphins let Slaughter fall and pounced. Final grade: D. The trade table was where it all came apart. The Dolphins shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D is the result.
With running back unsolved, spending premium capital on cornerback is the choice that costs them. They are betting Curry proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. On value alone, Slaughter makes the weekend a net positive.
The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Mansoor Delane
Good price on Mansoor Delane in the 11th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick57
Rnd2
A.J. Haulcy
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and A.J. Haulcy at pick No. 57 is the proof. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick75
Rnd3
Elijah Sarratt
Elijah Sarratt in the 75th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick79
Rnd3
Zachariah Branch
Zachariah Branch at Round 3, Pick 15 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick87
Rnd3
Jake Slaughter
The board fumbled Jake Slaughter all the way to pick 87, and they scooped it up. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick89
Rnd3
Darrell Jackson Jr.
Darrell Jackson Jr. in No. 89 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick90
Rnd3
Caden Curry
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Caden Curry. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick111
Rnd4
Jack Endries
Jack Endries at Round 4, Pick 11 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick129
Rnd4
Hezekiah Masses
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Hezekiah Masses adds a cornerback and leaves running back untouched.
Pick149
Rnd5
Kage Casey
A tidy little value on Kage Casey in slot 149, a step better than break-even. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick195
Rnd6
Sawyer Robertson
Sawyer Robertson in the Round 6 slot is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick227
Rnd7
Raylen Wilson
Fair-plus on Raylen Wilson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
