Draft Grade — Packers

FutureB-
The Packers turned the phones into found money: B. The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Packers reached some 74 spots for Patrick Payton, and value like that does not grow back. No fireworks, but a solid B.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. On value alone, Dunker makes the weekend a net positive.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick Analysis
Pick60
Rnd2
Christen Miller
Christen Miller at pick 60 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick84
Rnd3
Gennings Dunker
Somehow Gennings Dunker was still sitting there in pick No. 84, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick99
Rnd3
Malik Muhammad
Malik Muhammad at slot 99 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick120
Rnd4
Tacario Davis
Tacario Davis slid further than he should have, and No. 120 is lovely value for the cornerback. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick123
Rnd4
Chase Bisontis
Chase Bisontis at the Round 4 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The roster fit checks out.
Pick126
Rnd4
Albert Regis
A real head-scratcher, Albert Regis in the 126th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick127
Rnd4
Patrick Payton
Value said wait; Patrick Payton in slot 127 says they were not listening. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick158
Rnd5
Oscar Delp
A premium they did not need to pay, Oscar Delp a notch or two before his time. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick164
Rnd5
Trey Zuhn III
Trey Zuhn III at the 164th pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick199
Rnd6
Bryce Foster
A straight-up fair deal on Bryce Foster at the Round 6 slot, value and slot in agreement. It fills a real need, too.
Pick236
Rnd7
Rueben Owens II
They paid a round early for Rueben Owens II in pick No. 236, more than the board wanted. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick254
Rnd7
Will Kacmarek
Will Kacmarek is a better player than pick 254 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick257
Rnd7
Xavian Sorey Jr.
Xavian Sorey Jr. at Round 7, Pick 41 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
