Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall
D
ValueB+
NeedB-
TradesF
FutureB+
The Dolphins let Fields fall and pounced. Final grade: D. Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Dolphins, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. The process wobbled, and the D is where it lands.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Fields. For all the activity, linebacker went untouched, which is hard to explain. The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and linebacker is still a hole.
Pick Analysis
Pick22
Rnd1
Avieon Terrell
They did well to land Avieon Terrell in the 22nd overall pick, just ahead of his grade. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick43
Rnd2
Dillon Thieneman
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Dillon Thieneman in pick No. 43. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick75
Rnd3
Max Klare
Steal is underselling it; Max Klare at the Round 3 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick86
Rnd3
Jake Golday
Somehow Jake Golday was still sitting there in the 86th pick, and they pounced on premier edge rusher value. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick87
Rnd3
Blake Miller
They robbed the room for Blake Miller here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick90
Rnd3
Connor Lew
Connor Lew in slot 90 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The roster fit checks out.
Pick111
Rnd4
Malachi Fields
They barely believed it either: Malachi Fields still on the board at the Round 4 slot. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick112
Rnd4
Emmett Johnson
Emmett Johnson at slot 112 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick123
Rnd4
Jaeden Roberts
Jaeden Roberts at pick 123 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick149
Rnd5
Skyler Gill-Howard
Skyler Gill-Howard at pick No. 149 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick150
Rnd5
Domani Jackson
Domani Jackson at the 150th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick177
Rnd5
Reggie Virgil
Reggie Virgil in the 177th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick202
Rnd6
DJ Campbell
They will replay DJ Campbell at Round 6, Pick 23 for years; that is how good the value is. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick227
Rnd7
Miller Moss
Miller Moss at No. 227 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
