Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall

FutureA-
The Dolphins cashed the board's mistake on Slaughter: D. The Dolphins lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. Hard to defend, and the D reflects that.
It is not that Muhammad is a bad player; it is that the Dolphins had louder needs to answer first. The Slaughter pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.
It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.
Pick Analysis
Pick13
Rnd1
Caleb Downs
In the 13th pick they get a rangy last line of defense at a price that makes it sweeter. Need was not the driver here.
Pick52
Rnd2
Emmanuel Pregnon
Emmanuel Pregnon slipping to No. 52 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick75
Rnd3
Caleb Banks
A top-tier interior defensive lineman at a bargain, Caleb Banks in Round 3, Pick 11, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick87
Rnd3
Jake Slaughter
A offensive lineman of that caliber at the Round 3 slot is the definition of value, full stop. It fills a real need, too.
Pick90
Rnd3
D'Angelo Ponds
The board fumbled D'Angelo Ponds all the way to slot 90, and they scooped it up. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick97
Rnd3
Malik Muhammad
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Malik Muhammad adds a cornerback and leaves running back and linebacker untouched.
Pick111
Rnd4
Mikail Kamara
Mikail Kamara in the Round 4 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick112
Rnd4
Zachariah Branch
They barely believed it either: Zachariah Branch still on the board at pick No. 112. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick120
Rnd4
Bryce Lance
They did well to land Bryce Lance in Round 4, Pick 20, just ahead of his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick149
Rnd5
J.C. Davis
Steal is underselling it; J.C. Davis at slot 149 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick150
Rnd5
DeMonte Capehart
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and DeMonte Capehart at the 150th pick is the proof. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick158
Rnd5
Tanner Koziol
Tanner Koziol at pick 158 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the tight end. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick177
Rnd5
Louis Moore
Louis Moore at the 177th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick205
Rnd6
Taylen Green
You do not let a quarterback like Taylen Green reach No. 205 and blink. They did not. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick215
Rnd6
Charles Jagusah
They let Charles Jagusah come to them and pounced at the 215th overall pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
