Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall

FutureA
The Commanders won the weekend at the trade table. Grade: A-. When the story of this class is written, it opens with Monroe Freeling at pick No. 74, a reach of 36 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. Just about everything broke right, and the A- follows.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. That Moss pick is the receipt they will wave around later. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up.
Bottom line, with Kenyon Sadiq leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick Analysis
Pick26
Rnd1
Kenyon Sadiq
In the 26th pick they get a red-zone target to build around. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick62
Rnd2
Anthony Lucas
Anthony Lucas at Round 2, Pick 30 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick74
Rnd3
Monroe Freeling
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Monroe Freeling. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick91
Rnd3
Bryce Lance
Value said wait; Bryce Lance in No. 91 says they were not listening. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick94
Rnd3
Emmett Johnson
Emmett Johnson slid further than he should have, and the 94th overall pick is lovely value for the running back. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick123
Rnd4
Jalon Kilgore
The board had Jalon Kilgore higher than slot 123, and the safety fell to them anyway. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick126
Rnd4
Ar'maj Reed-Adams
They took Ar'maj Reed-Adams at par in the 126th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick145
Rnd5
Lander Barton
A big swing on Lander Barton at the 145th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick185
Rnd6
De'Zhaun Stribling
A wild overpay on De'Zhaun Stribling in pick No. 185, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick196
Rnd6
Isaac Smith
A real head-scratcher, Isaac Smith in pick 196 is miles ahead of his ranking. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick207
Rnd6
Miller Moss
Miller Moss at Round 6, Pick 28 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick223
Rnd7
Lawson Luckie
Lawson Luckie at slot 223 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the tight end. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
