Draft Grade — Colts
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureB
Larceny in No. 189 lands the Colts a B+, Simon and all.

Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Cody Simon got past him. The Colts do not have to explain a thing at No. 189. The bottom line is a respectable B+.

Cook has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. For all the activity, wide receiver went untouched, which is hard to explain.

The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the wide receiver spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Tyler Warren
Tyler Warren in slot 14 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick81 Rnd3 Darien Porter
Darien Porter at Round 3, Pick 17 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick87 Rnd3 Andrew Mukuba
They did well to land Andrew Mukuba in the Round 3 slot, just ahead of his grade. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick92 Rnd3 Carson Schwesinger
Carson Schwesinger in No. 92 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick117 Rnd4 Charles Grant
Charles Grant in pick No. 117 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick151 Rnd5 Dorian Strong
Somehow Dorian Strong was still sitting there in the 151st pick, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick174 Rnd5 Ollie Gordon II
A tidy little value on Ollie Gordon II in the 174th overall pick, a step better than break-even. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick189 Rnd6 Cody Simon
The board fumbled Cody Simon all the way to pick 189, and they scooped it up. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick232 Rnd7 Jaylen Reed
Taking Jaylen Reed in the 232nd overall pick is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick239 Rnd7 Brady Cook
They reached into another round for Brady Cook, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
