Draft Grade — Cardinals

FutureA+
The Cardinals got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the B-. The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Cardinals reached some 55 spots for Shamar Easter, and value like that does not grow back.
That is a quarterback worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick50
Rnd2
Jake Slaughter
Jake Slaughter in the 50th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick84
Rnd3
Cade Klubnik
A quarterback of that caliber at No. 84 is the definition of value, full stop. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick117
Rnd4
Bryce Lance
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Bryce Lance in slot 117. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick118
Rnd4
Isaiah Jatta
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Isaiah Jatta in the Round 4 slot, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick157
Rnd5
Shamar Easter
They talked themselves into Shamar Easter at Round 5, Pick 19, and the board did not agree. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick196
Rnd6
Princewill Umanmielen
A big swing on Princewill Umanmielen at pick 196, well ahead of any board in the building. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick197
Rnd6
Jaishawn Barham
A wild overpay on Jaishawn Barham in Round 6, Pick 21, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick221
Rnd7
Jack Velling
They reached a country mile for Jack Velling at the 221st pick, and the board is aghast. The roster fit checks out.
Pick230
Rnd7
Malachi Nelson
Malachi Nelson at the Round 7 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick231
Rnd7
A'Marion Peterson
A'Marion Peterson in pick No. 231 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
